Call for Abstracts

The Scientific committee is calling for submissions on issues such as cannabis and mental health, cannabis use and intervention approaches particularly among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, school based approaches to preventing and reducing cannabis use, the role of genetics in cannabis use and dependence, the relationship between cannabis and tobacco, synthetic cannabinoids, and cannabis and comorbid mental health conditions. The conference will include a variety of perspectives including health, education, youth services and the criminal justice sector. Abstracts can include empirical research (group and single case studies), topic reviews, clinical issues and initiatives.

All papers will be independently reviewed by the scientific committee prior to acceptance. Conference presentations will be in either the form of a platform presentation, a "datablitz" (5 minutes, 3 powerpoint slides and a poster) or a poster. Prospective presenters are invited to indicate their preferred presentation format, although the final decision will be made by the scientific committee.

Submissions must be formatted according to the following guidelines:

  • Abstracts to be in Calibri, font size 12, maximum 250 words;
  • Abstracts to be submitted in word format
  • The abstract should consist of:
    • Title: sentence case and bold.
    • Authors: sentence case - surname, first name, superscript for affiliations. Please underscore the person who will be giving the presentation.
    • Affiliations: sentence case - department, institution, city, country.
    • Abstract: structured abstract with the following headings in sentence case and bold: Background and aims, Method, Results, Conclusions or a variant of that appropriate to the nature of the paper.
    • Correspondence: corresponding author and email address.
    • Preference for method of presentation: oral presentation, poster plus 5min oral presentation (‘datablitz’), or poster only.
