A Mount Waverly rehabilitation centre for those under 16 years of age, has released figures about its clients as it faces possible closure due to a lack of funding. According to the figures, “more than half its clients began taking drugs aged 12 and under.” Cannabis was the “drug of choice” with 39.2 per cent of clients having used the substance. Cannabis being seen as a “soft and sociable” drug which was “socially acceptable” was said to be part of the reason it was so commonly used.
