Workforce

One of the Centre's key goals is to supply service providers with evidence-based interventions to respond to people experiencing cannabis-related problems. In relation to cannabis, there are a range of service providers that are being targeted. These include the following:

  • primary health care practitioners - nurses, GPs, Accident and Emergency staff
  • alcohol and other drug workers
  • mental health professionals
  • youth and social welfare workers
  • criminal justice professionals
  • educators
  • indigenous health and education workers

One of the greatest problems facing service providers in any area is how to keep up with up-to-date best-practice information. NCPIC aims to address this issue by providing regular updates on cannabis-related information and interventions through a variety of media, including the NCPIC website.

This section of the website aims to provide service providers from a range of disciplines with information and regular updates about the drug, intervention and treatment options, and information on free training opportunities on the delivery of motivational and brief interventions for cannabis-related problems.
