NCPIC - National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre

1st National Cannabis Conference

September 2009 saw the launch of Australia’s first Cannabis Conference, with speakers and workshops focused exclusively on cannabis-related themes from a wide range of both national and international experts. The conference, which was held at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, ran over two days and included notable speakers such as Professor David M. Fergusson of New Zealand, Professor Alan Green and Dr Lisa Marsch, both from the USA.

Topics discussed at the conference included cannabis policy, management of cannabis and comorbidity with psycho-social and pharmacological interventions, web-based interventions, cannabis and the criminal justice system amongst numerous other timely and ground-breaking themes and research findings. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive with a large number of respondants saying they would be keen to attend any future conferences run by NCPIC.
