Submitting your abstract

The following information will help you to submit your abstract for the 2024 National Cannabis Conference.

Topics of interest

The topic areas have been chosen to respond to the developing evidence-base on cannabis-related issues. The emerging areas to be featured will include cannabis use and intervention approaches among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, road safety issues, approaches to preventing and reducing cannabis use, , the relationship between cannabis and tobacco, synthetic cannabinoids, and promising approaches to cannabis and comorbid mental health conditions. The conference will include perspectives from a variety of sectors including health, education, youth services and criminal justice.

There will be workshops on Wednesday followed by the two-day conference on Thursday and Friday which includes national and international keynote speakers, free papers, datablitz, posters and social and networking opportunities.

The Scientific committee is calling for submissions on a range of issues including:

  • cannabis and mental health
  • cannabis use and intervention approaches particularly among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • interventions for the prevention and reduction of cannabis use
  • treatment approaches for cannabis use disorder
  • the role of genetics in cannabis use and dependence
  • cannabis and driving
  • toxicology and evidence-based pharmacological applications of cannabinoids
  • the relationship between cannabis, tobacco and other drugs
  • synthetic cannabinoids
  • cannabis and comorbid mental health conditions.

Instructions for submitting your abstract

Abstracts can include empirical research (group and single case studies), topic reviews, clinical issues and initiatives.

All papers will be independently reviewed by the scientific committee prior to acceptance. Conference presentations will be in either the form of a PLATFORM presentation, a DATABLITZ (5 minutes, 3 PowerPoint slides and a poster) or a POSTER. Prospective presenters are invited to indicate their preferred presentation format, although the final decision will be made by the scientific committee.

Abstracts must be in English and are limited to a maximum of 250 words.

Title: sentence case and bold
Authors: sentence case: surname, first name, superscript for affiliations
Affiliations: sentence case: department, institution, city, country
Abstract: structured abstract with the following headings in sentence case and bold: Background and aims, Method, Results, Conclusions
Correspondence: Corresponding author and email address

Please submit the abstract online via Easy Chair (use the submit button below), completing all the fields and attach the fully formatted abstract where it says 'upload paper' with your name in the title of the file e.g. Eagers.NCPIC.
