2025 Music Competition

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians are invited to write a song that tells the story of gunja in their community – the harms, its impact on relationships, families, education and culture. Record your song and send it to NCPIC for judging.

The 2025 competition is now closed, please see below for results and check back for next year's competition launch.

What to do: Entrants were required to create and record a song about cannabis/gunja and its affect on Aboriginal communities.

Entries: The quality of entries this year surpassed our expectations and covered a range of genres from rap to classical and folk, in both English and traditional languages. Our winners will be announced very soon, with first place taking away $5000 and a trip to Darwin to record with Skinny Fish Records, and one runner up receiving $1000.

Next competition: Check back at this page early next year for our 2024 competition details.

  • Winner – Clay Cassar-Daly
  • Runner Up – Red Dust Role Models (recorded by a group – Francis Kinthari, Eric Kinthari, Simba Kinthari William Parmbuk, Mark Parmbuk)
